WATERPROOF:
This word is taken very seriously here at Outback Trading.
We spend extra care with each PAK-A-ROO to ensure that
no matter how heavy the rain, you will stay dry.
Hydrostatic Head (H/H) is a way of measuring the
waterproofness of fabric. For any fabric to be
considered fully waterproof it must be able to withstand
the pressure of a column of water 1 meter high (1,000mm)
without leaking. This is classed as a Hydrostatic Head rating of 1,000.
The classification we have achieved with our Outback PAK-A-ROOs is
8,000 H/H, meaning that the column of water measuring 8 meters high
(8,000mm) before any water whatsoever was able to penetrate.
In real-world terms, where you have wind and gravity pushing rain
into fabric you will need an average measurement of
around 1,000 H/H to resist light showers. Heavy rain and
driving wind will create more pressure on the fabric and
require a higher number of around 2,000 H/H.
Outback PAK-A-ROO fabric’s rating of 8,000 H/H, four times
the average level, ensures the material can endure
any natural force.
MOISTURE VAPOR TRANSMISSION RATE (MVTR):
The ability of a fabric to transfer moisture is dependent on its
ability to “wick” it through the fabric. This is referred to as the
Moisture Vapor Transmission Rate. MVTR testing measures howmuch
moisture vapor can pass through fabric in a 24-hour period.
Outback PAK-A-ROO fabric measures 8000g/m²/day, exceeding industry
standards for moisture transmission (wicking and breathability).
